Track Description:
Silverstone is one of the most historic racetracks left on the F1 schedule - indeed, it held the inaugural Formula 1 World Championship event on May 13, 1950 - but this season is due to be the last British Grand Prix to be held on this track before the race moves to Donington Park in 2010. The groundswell of home support was never more in evidence than when Nigel Mansell was in his pomp, and the phrase "Mansellmania" was coined to describe the track invasions that greeted his three Silverstone wins, in 1987, 1991 and 1992.
