Track Description:
Hermann Tilke's first complete creation, the Sepang International Circuit hosted the inaugural Malaysian Grand Prix championship event in 1999, and immediately found itself at the heart of controversy, as Ferrari's Eddie Irvine and Michael Schumacher originally finished 1-2 to set up a championship finale at Suzuka, but were then disqualified, only to be reinstated again on appeal. This is also the circuit were Schumacher won a record seventh consecutive race from pole in 2001, and where Kimi Raikkonen took his maiden F1 victory in 2003.
