BIO:Ryan three grand national karting championships before turning his attention to open-wheel cars in the Barber Dodge Pro Series and Toyota Atlantic Series. Moved up to Champ Car World Series in 2003 and became the first rookie in 20 years to win when he took the victory at Surfers Paradise. Won again in 2004 at Milwaukee. Hunter-Reay left open-wheel racing after the 2005 season to pursue other opportunities, which included part-time duty in Grand-Am and assorted other racing ventures including the Baja 1000 and A1GP.
