BIO:Son of Nelson Piquet, world champion in 1981, 1983 and 1987.

Started out in the SudAmerica F3 series with his father’s team, winning the title in 2002 with a massive 13 wins. Moved to the British equivalent to face tougher opposition, and finished third in the points despite taking six victories. Secured the British F3 title in 2003 with another six wins, and moved into GP2, taking a win at Spa.

Piquet raced sporadically in the first A1GP season in 2005/06, winning the maiden event at Brands Hatch. He then battled with Lewis Hamilton for the 2006 GP2 title, scoring six pole positions and four wins overall, to run Hamilton to the last round before the Englishman clinched the championship. Like Alonso, Piquet spent a season as the Renault test driver before graduating to a race seat in 2008. Scored a fortunate podium finish at Hockenheim, but was more impressive as the season wore on, also finishing fourth at Fuji.

Nelson moved to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for the 2010 Season and will be driving the Websense/ArcSight Toyota for Red Horse Racing.
