BIO:In 1998, shortly after his 13th birthday, Busch's driving career officially began. From 1999 through 2001, Busch earned more than 65 wins in legends car racing and earned two championships at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's "Bullring" before moving to late models. He captured 10 victories in late model competition at the Bullring in 2001. On Aug. 3, 2001, at age 16, Busch made his NCWTS debut driving for Roush Fenway Racing, finishing ninth. Shortly thereafter, an unexpected ruling by NASCAR enacted a minimum age requirement for competitors in NASCAR's top-three series sidelined Busch until his 18th birthday. Busch switched from NASCAR to the American Speed Association (ASA) series, finishing eighth in points In 2002, Busch graduated a year early from high school to focus on his driving career. That same year, he made his debut in the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Lowe's Motor Speedway, finishing 12th. In 2003, Busch signed a driver development contract with Hendrick Motorsports, and drove seven ARCA races. He won his first two races and again the following year at Daytona. Upon turning 18, Busch partnered with Hendrick Motorsports to run six NASCAR Nationwide (Busch) Series races at selected tracks for NEMCO Motorsports. He finished second in his first NNS race at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in May 2003. Busch's first full-time season began in 2004. He clinched Rookie of the Year honors in the series, won his first pole of the season and claimed his first victory at Richmond. Busch went on to claim five wins in 2004, making him the record holder of most races won by a driver in their rookie season and finished second in the points. Busch also qualified for six NSCS races. In 2005, Busch was picked to take over the #5 at Hendrick. He won his first NSCS race on September 4 at California. He won the 2005 Rookie of the Year with two wins and a 20th place points finish. Also in 2005, he returned to the NCWTS for a limited number of races with Billy Ballew Motorsports, winning his first career truck series race at Lowe's Motor Speedway on May 20, 2005. He also won at Dover and the fall race at Atlanta. In addition, he ran a limited schedule in the NNS driving for Hendrick, earning one win. He became part of the “NASCAR Triple Threats,” a group of select drivers who have won in each of NASCAR top three touring series. In 2006, he qualified for the Chase, where he finished the season 10th. Also in 2006, he finished seventh in the NCWTS point standings. Busch earned the first win in NASCAR's Car of Tomorrow in 2007 at Bristol Motor Speedway. He also earned Hendrick their 200th NASCAR win (in all series) and Chevrolet's 600th NASCAR victory. In 2008, Busch replaced J.J. Yeley at Joe Gibbs Racing. In the NNS, he ran 19 races and won four times, helping JGR win the Owner’s Championship. He made 11 more starts for other teams, winning six more times, tying the record for the most wins in a season. On the NCWTS side, he made 11 starts for Billy Ballew, winning 3 times. He took the lead in the NSCS point standings for the first time in his career and won at Atlanta Motor Speedway (his fifth victory), earning the first NSCS victory for manufacturer Toyota. He finished the season 10th in points. 2009 was a big year for Busch. He won the second Gatorade duel at Daytona, won a NCWTS and NNS race on the same day (first driver to do so), won for the first time on his home track, and won on his birthday, becoming only the second driver to celebrate their special day in Victory Lane. In the NNS finale on November 21, 2009, Busch won both the race and the NNS Championship, becoming the first driver since Sam Ard in 1983 to win the finale and the championship in the same year. On the NCWTS side, Busch won seven races out of 15 starts and announced he was forming his own team, Kyle Busch Motorsports. Due to sponsorship woes, Busch drove the truck himself and hired several drivers to replace him when he wasn’t behind the wheel. 2010 was another record-breaking year for Busch, who pulled off the “sweep” at Bristol, becoming the first driver to win a race in all three touring events in one weekend. He also earned 13 wins in the NNS, the most in a season. Adding to that his other victories, Busch holds the record for most wins across all three series (24). In 2011, Busch's season started off with fifth, seventh and eighth place finishes in the NCWTS, NNS and NSCS series respectively at Daytona. At Phoenix in the NCWTS, he had the perfect race, leading every lap and winning. He also did another Bristol “sweep” with the NNS/NSCS in March. As well, he passed the 10,000 laps led mark in the NNS, setting yet another record. Busch currently drives in all three of NASCAR’s top series. NSCS: No 18. M&Ms Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. NNS: No. 18 Z-Line Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. NCWTS: No. 18 Dollar General Toyota for Kyle Busch Motorsports. On July 16, 2011, he set the record for most wins in NASCAR three touring series, with 100 by earning his 49th Nationwide series win (tying the record for most Nationwide wins).
