Track Description:
If ever a track didn't need an introduction then Monaco is it. The most famous street circuit and arguably most famous race in the world, Monaco first held a Grand Prix in 1929, won by William Grover Williams, a statue of whom was erected years later at Ste. Devote. Juan-Manuel Fangio won the inaugural championship event here in 1950, and since 1955 it has been a staple on the F1 calendar. Generally regarded as the ultimate driver test for the proximity of the armco, many of the barriers have been moved back in recent years, making it safer but perhaps ruining some of what made Monaco so great as a driver challenge. However, tell that to Lewis Hamilton, who hit the barriers early in the 2008 race, pitted to change a punctured tire, and still came back to win!
